How do I use Publisher3D to create image for Word?

The overall process for using the software with Word follows. It is important to set up the images in Word as linked, not embedded images, for updates to work properly when 3D CAD designs changes and your technical graphics change.

  • In Publisher3D, create storyboard with any number of illustrations.
  • Name the illustrations appropriately. This will ultimately be used in the filename, for example “Illustration(1).png”.
  • When you are ready to publish, click on the publish ribbon, select the image publisher, set the desired dimensions and file type, select the appropriate storyboard and then click “publish Now”
  • This will then ask for the directory to publish your images to
  • A PNG (or other) file will be created in the directory for each illustration in the storyboard
  • These images are then imported into Word and set up as a linked image, not and embedded images

Note: Using embedded images is important because that is how the Word document will be able to match up with the revised images. It is also important the the illustration names are not changed between revisions. If they are then Word will not know which images to match up with.

Here is a short article I looked up on setting up the images in Word to make this work smoothly: http://www.labnol.org/software/insert-images-in-word-documents/8144/
